Dedicated to all insomniacs and moon gazers, and in honour of Saint Dymphna, our subject lies awake and day dreaming while her nocturnal friends howl and prowl in the moonlight. Saint Dymphna was a Celtic princess, born in Ireland in the 7th century and forced to flee from the abusive attentions of her father. She fled to Belgium but was eventually caught and murdered by the King. Her patronages include anxiety and sleep disorders and her name translates as ‘little deer’ so the border comprises a running pattern of fawns.
